Prosecutors say a Massachusetts man accused of robbing a woman of her purse at the Valley Mall two years ago won't return to Rockingham County to face a judge. Joshua Hart, 25, and Brittany Smith, 29, were convicted in Orange, Mass., in May of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Thomas Harty, 95. Harty's wife, Joanna Fisher, 77, was seriously injured in the attack and later died from her injuries.

Harrisonburg, VA On Thursday, October 4, 2018 the Harrisonburg Police Department received three scam complaints from local citizens claiming someone had contacted them by phone impersonating a local law enforcement officer. The offender advised the victim they had missed a court date and in order to avoid criminal charges they must provide prepaid credit/debit card numbers over the phone which amounts totaled over several thousand dollars.

A Florida man accused of using fraudulent credit cards to withdraw thousands of dollars from ATMs pleaded guilty Tuesday in Rockingham County Circuit Court. Maikel Fernandez Valdivia, 35, of Hialeah, Fla., pleaded guilty to felony obtaining money by false pretenses, felony obtaining credit information by fraud and felony possession of a skimming device.
